Founded in 1998, Takahama Life Art sells a wide range of original goods such as T-shirts and mugs online and runs three shops in Tokyo. The company has a variety of facilities and handles the entire printing process in-house, and featuring a quick delivery and flexible response.
The Tokushima factory of Takahama Life Art Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Katsushika-ku, Tokyo) is located one and a half hours by car from Tokushima City, surrounded by the magnificent forests of the Shikoku Mountains and the valley of the Yoshino River. There, at a closed down elementary school, silk screen printing and other print processing are being carried out.

GOCCOPRO QS2536

The GOCCOPRO is a digital screen making machine that enables easy screen printing without a darkroom or water washing facilities.
The QS2536 introduced this time is a high-end model with high precision and image quality of 1200 dpi, capable of expressing fine details such as halftone dots and gradations in photographs. It also has a wide screen making area and can handle large frames for automatic T-shirt printing presses.

One person can oprate from screen making to printing, even for large numbers of multi-color prints.

Mr. Sakakibara, a veteran of the company, is in charge of silk screen printing at this factory.
He used to use emulsion screen making and long tables (printing tables) at the Tokyo headquarters, but he says that printing with the QS2536 and VOLT is not inferior at all in terms of print quality. Before the introduction of the QS2536, which has a high resolution of 1200 dpi, we were already using two units of QS200 in Tokyo. Of course, a high resolution is advantageous for printing small text, each with a specification of 600 dpi.
The VOLT is useful because it allows fine adjustment of squeegee angle and printing pressure. Unlike compressor squeegees, VOLT is all-electric, so squeezing is smooth and gentle, making it ideal for printing with digital screen making.

Considering the shorter turnaround time and manpower constrains, digital technology offers distinct advantageous.

This is not the first time that TAKAHAMA LIFE ART has employed a digital screen making machine.
As mentioned earlier two unit of GOCCOPRO QS200 are already installed at the company’s headquarters factory in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo. According to company president Mr. T.Takahama, “Previosely, we used
to do screen printing in the factory using emulsion. However, considering the shorter turnaround time and manpower constrains, digital technology offers distinct advantageous.
Emulsion screen making, whether outsourced or done in-house, is time-consuming, which hinders short delivery times. Moreover, traditional screen printing demands significant manpower. It is difficult to educate people on the procedures and tricks of emulsion application and reclaming the screen, but with digital screen making, even part-time workers can handle it easily.

With digital screen making and an automatic coursel can reduce lost sales

Currently, GOCCOPRO produces 50~60 screens per day in the factory.
This year, Tokushima factory newly equipped with the QS2536 and VOLT, went into operation, which has greatly improved productivity.
Most of our orders are for small lots of 20~30 pieces, so when a big order of several thousand pieces came in,
we had no choice but to outsource or refuse the order. We were losing opportunities. Now, we can afford to take on urgent orders in-house because we can have the Tokushima factory share the workload,” says Mr.Takahama.
